SOUND DESIGN
Welcome!
Welcome here, and thank you for checking out my sound site, which showcases some of the production pieces I've had the pleasure of composing over the years.
A variety of genres and time periods are represented in this work. Playwrights include Moliére, Samuel Beckett, Sally Clark, Peter Shaffer, Christopher Durang, Robert LePage & Marie Brassard.
APPROACH
Successful collaborations have included work with Vadim Bulitko, Jan Selman, Libby Mason, Kim McCaw, Jean Stephane Roy, Bob Baker, Jim DeFelice, & Michelin Chevrier. Along with live theatre, I've also composed for film, video games & interactive media.
A range of musical backgrounds feeds my work.
These include lessons in classical & jazz idioms with piano teachers such as my mom, Vivian DeFehr, and Earl Isaacs, Marilyn Lerner, and Bill Emes.
Workshops on electroacoustic music & sound design by Doug Blackley, Steve Heimbecker, Ken Gregory, & Shawn Pinchbeck have expanded my sonic palette.
CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS
A full range of sounds & musical styles are available to support every moment, mood, & emotion on stage. Rich orchestral works, textured sound effects, popping rhythms, and dreamy ambience.
Show ready sound files can be delivered in variety of formats, including stereo, Dolby 5.1surround, or Ambisonics as the production requires. On time every time.
Robert LePage
Of course theater will always be associated intimately to literature, but the themes or whatever have to penetrate you by the senses. Theater is a sensuous experience, and that's its main difference from film or any other dramatic art.
TO BREATHE
Along with the sound and music, sometimes silence is the perfect way to draw the audience in to the feeling of the scene.
